Gardner competed in bodybuilding for over a decade rising to the NPC National level. Gardner added the BODY*TECH BABES to the BODY*TECH brand as the bodybuilding industry expanded into Fitness, Figure, Bikini and Physique.

In 1998, Tim retired from competitive bodybuilding and completely transitioned into judging as a NPC Florida State Judge. 2000, the Millennium year was quite busy for Gardner creating his first show, the NPC Hurricane Bay & Typhoon Bay Championships as well as starting a Beverly International Florida Distributorship awarded by owners Roger & Sandy Riedinger. 2002 took Tim into the NPC National Judges table where six years later, he would be promoted to the IFBB Pro ranks. 2008 would also be the birth year for the IFBB Tampa Pro and the early beginnings of Tim Gardner Productions. The end of the 2014 season brought holiday gifts to Gardner with an assignment to become the very first NPC District Chairman of the U.S. Territory in the Caribbean, Puerto Rico. 2015 launched the IFBB Wings of Strength Rising Phoenix World Championships of Women Bodybuilding with Jake & Kristal Wood and also a career milestone to be named to the Olympia Judging Panel. Gardner reached the pinnacle of his judging status in 2016 by being appointed IFBB Head Judge by President Jim Manion.
