CHS Vocal Department: The Melody Within

More than 250 students will be featured when Charlotte High School’s Vocal Department presents “The Melody Within” concert on Tuesday, February 25, 2014. The general public is invited to attend this free musical presentation. Curtain is at 7pm in the Charlotte Performing Arts Center (CPAC), with the lobby area opening at 6pm and the theatre auditorium at 6:30pm. CPAC is located at, 701 Carmalita, Street in Punta Gorda.

Music in the program will include; “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” by the Charlotte High’s Men’s Choir, and “Bohemian Rhapsody”, by the CHS Varsity Choir. Charisma, the high school’s performance choir, will be presenting two pieces they will be performing next month in New York City, at Carnegie Hall, one of the most notable performance halls in the world.

Charisma has a long and valued history of commitment to excellence and is one of the finest high school choral groups in Southwest Florida. The ensemble, under the direction of Jaclyn Cushman, has been invited to perform at the prestigious Carnegie Hall, on March 9, 2014.

Special guest choirs from Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte Middle Schools will also be featured with Trista Grossnicklaus (PGM) and Scott Courtney (PCM) conducting.

The evening will conclude with a Charlotte High School, Mass Choir grand finale number, of “The Melody Within”. This musical selection is from the movie “Rigoletto” and will be conducted by former PCMS chorus director, Mrs. Kay Withee. Donations will be gratefully accepted at this concert to benefit the Vocal Music program at Charlotte High School.
